Washing Your Wig or Hair Extensions

How often should you wash them?

Unlike natural hair, wigs and hair extensions do not need to be washed frequently. We recommend washing them every 10–15 wears or whenever you notice product buildup. Washing them too often can shorten the lifespan of your hair.

Step-by-Step Washing Instructions

1. First, detangle: Gently comb through the hair with a wide-toothed comb, starting at the ends and working your way up to the roots.
2. Prepare the water: Fill a bowl with cool to lukewarm water. Never use hot water, as this can damage the hair fibers.
3. Add shampoo: Pour a small amount of sulfate-free, mild shampoo into the water. Stir to create a lather.
4. Wash gently: Submerge the wig or hair extensions and gently swish them back and forth in the water. Do not rub, twist, or wring them out. Let them soak for 5 minutes.
5. Rinse thoroughly: Rinse the wig or hair extensions under cool running water until all the shampoo is removed. Gently squeeze out excess water.
6. Conditioner: Apply a moisturizing conditioner from the mid-lengths to the ends. Avoid the scalp and the wefts. Let the conditioner sit for 3–5 minutes, then rinse it out thoroughly.

Styling & Heat

Tips for Heat Styling

Although our human hair wigs and hair extensions can be styled with heat, it’s important to use the right techniques to prevent damage:

• Always apply a heat protection spray before using heat styling tools
• Use low to medium heat settings (280–320 °F / 140–160 °C)
• Limit heat styling to 2–3 times per week
• Let your hair cool completely before brushing or styling it further

Storage and Care

Daily Storage

• Always place your wig on a wig stand or a mannequin head when you are not wearing it to maintain its shape
• Gently brush the wig before storing it to prevent matting

Long-Term Storage

• Clean and dry your wig or hair extensions completely before storing them
• Store them in a breathable silk or satin pouch or in the original packaging
• Store it in a cool, dry place away from moisture and dust
• Check the wig regularly and air it out to prevent musty odors

Special Care for Hair Extensions

Hair extensions require some additional care to ensure they stay securely in place and look natural:

• Brush from the bottom up, holding the strand of hair or the attachment point firmly to avoid pulling
• Avoid applying conditioner or oils near the attachment points
• Sleep with your hair loosely braided to prevent tangling
• Visit a professional hairstylist every 6–8 weeks to have your hair extensions re-secured or maintained
• Be gentle when drying your hair with a towel—pat it dry; do not rub it
